Why HVAC Inspections are Essential for New Homeowners

|

Buying a home is a considerable investment, and we recommend you do what you can to ensure your investment lasts as long as possible. We suggest protecting your home and elongating its health through an HVAC inspection and cleaning from a certified professional.

These professionals and assessments provide valuable feedback and information on ways to keep your HVAC system running for as long as possible. They can also diagnose issues you may not even know are underlying.

So what do an inspection and cleaning include?

Your home inspector most likely did a general evaluation of your furnace and air conditioner.

  • How old is the system?
  • Was it installed correctly?
  • Does it turn on properly?
  • Are there any hazards?

However, most home inspections don’t include a detailed evaluation of the HVAC system or a cleaning. There may be underlying problems that affect your system’s efficiency and lifespan that go unnoticed by a standard home inspection.

And unless the previous owner left detailed maintenance records, you have no way of knowing when the last time your system was cleaned and serviced. In many cases, it has been at least a few years if not many more, and this lack of maintenance can cause your energy bills to skyrocket.

Only a thorough inspection and cleaning by a certified HVAC professional can identify issues before they cost you a lot of time and money. This inspection will also give you realistic expectations of how much life is left in your system and when you may want to consider replacing it down the road.
